Lani grew up offworld abord the starship Potempkin which was assigned as a science vessel to monitor the cardassian neutral zone, her mother who was Chief Engineer abord the ship was killed during the start of the dominion war.

She was chosen to be joined by the trill governing council at the age of 19 shortly after her Father moved to vulcan to oversee the launch of the Federations first deep space science ships.

She quickly rose to the rank of Lt Commander, but as fate would have it she got her entire away team killed by beaming them into what was believe to be a safe area when the klingon conflict began to escalate The area turned out to be a minefield.

She lost her commision, and through the course of a few years manged to regain it with the help of the trill science council and her father.

She was assigned the considered cursed USS Borealis which was a dry run test ship for what was going to be a new class of science vessel with plolaron armaments instead of phasers, the design was ultimatley scrapped but the ship left in drydock mothballed untill the recent klingon conflict.

The borealis is sleak and powerful but has suffered the loss of every previous captain in bizarre accidents and happenings.

She hopes to give the ship a new lease of life and attempt tp find something to make of her life in this big galaxy.

But somewhere late at night she can still swear she hears something moving between the bulkheads....

Also aboard ship is her partner Esgla who serves as her chief science officer.
